Located on the grounds of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church,
the Memorial Garden is a consecrated space dedicated to the reverent
inurnment of cremated remains. Rooted in two centuries of history
and open to all who seek a place of beauty, dignity, and peace.
A sacred story two centuries in the making
When George Clemson was laid to rest in 1823, his burial began a sacred story still unfolding today. What once faded into overgrowth has been lovingly restored as consecrated ground — the first cremation-only Catholic cemetery in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Ground-penetrating radar, meticulous research, and careful restoration have honored the 25 souls interred here — including Revolutionary and Civil War veterans — ensuring those who came before remain visible and remembered.
